Special requirements

General assistance

We are happy to give appropriate advice and arrange for help where needed. If you are registered disabled, we will not charge you for these services.

If you have requested special assistance we recommend that you check in for your flight no later than 60 minutes prior to departure.

If you, or someone travelling with you, requires help during the flight or at the airport, please let us know at least 48 hours beforehand by emailing us at specialassistance@flybe.com or informing your call centre agent.

Wheelchair/Limited mobility

If you or a member of your party use a wheelchair or have limited mobility, we can offer assistance to the bottom or top of the aircraft steps, or to the aircraft seat as required.

We can carry both manual and electically operated wheelchairs in the aircraft's hold provided

  • electrically operated wheelchairs are powered using a 'gell' or 'dry cell' battery (we can not carry wheelchairs that use 'wet cell' batteries for safety reasons)
  • you allow us to isolate the wheelchair's batteries before loading onto the aircraft, passengers may be required to be present at this time
  • where the wheelchair is none-collapsable, you provide us with the dimensions (height, width, depth) through the Customer Call Centre

The size of and number of electric wheelchairs we are able to carry will vary by aircraft type

  • Embraer 145
    Max powered wheelchairs:  2
    Max dimensions 30 inches wide x 44 inches high (76cmH x 111cm W)

  • Bombardier Q400
    Max powered wheelchairs: 2
    Max dims 24inches wide x 40 inches high (60cm H x 101cm W)

  • BAe 146

    Max dims 35 wide x 33 high (89cm H x 84 W)

  • Embraer 195

    Max dims 37 inches wide x 27 inches high (94cm H x 68cm W)

Additionally and for safety reasons, we are only permitted to carry a proportionate number of passengers who have restricted mobility per aircraft type. For this reason you must e-mail specialassistance@flybe.com or inform your call centre agent to ensure you receive the best possible care.

Flybe has limited responsibility regarding damage, which may occur to baggage, fragile items, or items of value. It is in the passenger's own interests to ensure that they have adequate travel insurance or insurance which specifically covers the item(s) that are carried onboard or within the aircraft hold(s).

Travel during pregnancy

Below 27 weeks, no action is necessary. From week 28 up to and including week 33 we will require a doctor's note certifying fitness for air travel. This is to be presented at check-in. We do not carry passengers once the pregnancy has reached or exceeded week 34.
